About Us

Many years ago, 1998 to be exact, two lonely young moms decided to meet at a nearby park in Santa Clara. A young couple about to move to India (hint, hint) was visiting some friends before the big move.  During their visit they reconnected with friends from college, Peri and Blair Bassett and Joe and Angie Lynch. Little did they know that their actions on this visit would drastically change the lives of these two young couples. Matt and Michelle Klakulak realized that the Bassetts and the Lynches lived less than a mile from each other and suggested that the two families meet up to get to know one another. That day at the park was the start of a life-long friendship between the families and we owe it all to the Klakulaks. (In case you guys have not figured it out yet, Claire and I will be living with the Klakulak while we are in India.) Claire and my younger sister Elsa are best friends, as are Megan and I (Emma). Our sisters are only a little bit concerned with us traveling together for so long. (Don’t worry Elsa and Megan!)

Now that you know a little bit about how we came to know each other here is a little bit about each Claire and I individually.

IMG-6362Hey All! My name is Claire Lynch.  I am quite terrible at grammar and spelling so it’ll be interesting to see how writing a blog goes. I am a 3rd year at Cal Poly studying Anthropology and Geography and concentrating in Ethnic Studies. I am extremely passionate about honey crisp apples. And my favorite thing to do is to drive with the windows down while blasting some good tunes with friends, preferably in nature. I’m so stoked to go to India and learn about the culture and the people we will be with everyday. I’m excited to be challenged in what we do and how I view the world every day.

247C8FB6-0632-4EC5-85E4-752AE8E642B8Hi everyone! My name is Emma Bassett. I just graduated from Biola University as a Music Education major. I will be going back to Biola in the Spring to compLete my teaching credential, but I thought I would take a short detour and head to India with Claire first! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love to dance and sing. I am hoping for lots of dance opportunities during my travels:) If I had it my way, I would be a professional student. I am passionate about learning and studying and I look forward to the many new things I will be learning while I am in India. I know it will not be EXACTLY like my favorite Bollywood movie, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham 😉 but I cannot wait to explore the Indian culture. I am hoping to be challenged on this trip and come home a more mature, confident, and educated person.
